About Our Club
Welcome to the Richmond Rockets Speed Skating Club ! The "Richmond Rockets" is a short track speed skating club based in Richmond, BC, Canada. We run our practice sessions out of the two Olympic size hockey rinks at the Richmond Olympic Oval, located at 6111 River Road, Richmond, BC (map). 
Our new season will start in mid-September 2012, and it will run till mid-March of 2013. We will have practice sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, as well as on Sunday early afternoons. Come over and watch a practice, or try a FREE speed-skating session!

Our club was founded in 2006 with the aim to provide training, coaching and social facilities for skaters and their families in the greater Richmond area of British Columbia, to allow speed skaters of all ages and abilities to develop, compete and enjoy the sport. 2013 - Spring Speed Skating Recruitment Program Do you know someone who skates fast on hockey or figure skates with breakaway speeds? The Richmond Olympic Oval Speed Skating Program is holding a series of speed skaters recruitment sessions this spring to talented skaters who may have the potentials to be the next provincial, national, or Olympic level speed skaters. March 16, 2013 - The Richmond Rockets has successfully hosted the 2013 Regional FUNale at the Richmond Olympic Oval. The mayor of Richmond Malcolm Brodie was present to start off the races. We had skaters from the Peninsula Speed Skating Club, Victoria, Vancouver Speed Skating Club, PoCo Lightning Speed Skating Club, and Burnaby Haida Speed Skating Club. A total of 47 skaters attended this BCSSA sanctioned meet, of which 14 of our own skaters competed. February 2, 2013 - The Richmond Rockets has successfully hosted our second in-club local mini-meet at the Richmond Olympic Oval. November 18, 2012 - The Richmond Rockets has successfully hosted our first in-club local mini-meet at the Richmond Olympic Oval. August 23, 2012 - The first practice session for the 2012/2013 season will start on Sunday, September 16th, 2012 at 2 pm. May 14, 2012 - RRSSC AGM at the Richmond Olympic Oval November 18, 2011 - Starting November 21st, 2011 we will have a new practice schedule . September 17, 2011 - Starting Sept 18th, 2011 Brock Miron will be running our Sunday practices, and starting Sept 20th, 2011. Christina Acton (Certified Level III Coach) will be running our HP practices.
